Overview
The Narowal Rural Development Program is a non-government,
non-profit, non-political organization working in the
remotest areas of Narowal (Punjab) – Pakistan above the
caste, creed, religion and other group boundaries.
The Vision of the Narowal Rural Development Program
To create an environment
where development opportunities are available to all the
people of the area without any distinction of gender, creed
and religion.
The Mission of the Narowal Rural Development Program
Empowerment of low-income
communities to improve their quality of life on sustainable
basis.
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
The Narowal Rural Development Program provides services to
rural poor communities in micro enterprise development,
health, non-formal education, women rights and empowerment,
human and institution development and livestock and
agriculture.
The Micro Enterprise
Development program focuses on the poverty/socio-economic
issues, providing skill development training and small loans
for micro enterprise development to the rural poors (men &
women) through group lending methodology. Sustainable
socio-economic development with focus on poverty alleviation
and gender equality.
The Health Program focuses on mother & child health,
reproductive health, nutrition, HIV/AIDs, basic health
education and health/hygiene issues through providing
medical services, TBAs training, vaccination, counselling,
awareness/health education, IEC material, contraceptive
supply and mother & father support group (consisting on
young pregnant & breast feeding mothers and young fathers)
formation & its strengthening at village level.
The Non-Formal Education Program focuses on primary
education and functional literacy through providing primary
education to girls & boys, functional literacy to illiterate
young girls/women and teacher training.
The Women Rights & Empowerment Program focusing on women
rights & empowerment issues i.e. violence against women,
gender discrimination, women education & health, women
participation in decision making process at all level and
leadership development through awareness & sensitisation,
interactive theatre performances, public rallies, seminars,
educational workshops, trainings, advocacy & networking and
IEC material.
The Human and Institution Development focusing on human
resource development and empowerment issues through
formation and strengthening men & women organizations at
village level, trainings of NGOs, CBOs & Gos, staff
development.
The Livestock and Agriculture Program focuses on livestock &
agriculture issues through small loans to poor farmers,
development of livestock & agriculture extension workers at
village level, trainings of farmers, workshops on various
issues, food preservation, vaccination and farmer CBOs
development.
